EverQuest II

Absor's Update

Hello all,

Welcome to another issue of the Harpy's Head Herald. Thanks for reading.

As usual, it's been pretty busy around here. We've just finished showing off Planes of Power at E3, our programmers are building you all a new interface, and our artists and designers are building zones and NPCs for the Planes of Power. No rest for the weary here.

At the same time, we're also updating starting quests and newbie zones. Just recently we revamped the cities of Freeport and Ak'Anon to add a lot of new content for new characters. We've even done some work on Qeynos that we haven't really announced yet. Not even that was enough, however. We've also added over 1,000 new trade skill recipes for all levels of skill and added over 150 focus effects to existing items.

Of course, we also launched a new service that allows EverQuest players to change their character's first names for a special fee, and the Vice President of Customer Service also announced a new "global queue" system to better facilitate in-game customer service.

And our web folks (the ones that bring you this fine publication) haven't been resting either. Not only have they completely revamped the EverQuest Live site to make it prettier and much more accessible, they've also updated the Planes of Power site, created the EverQuest II site and the EverQuest Online Adventures site.

Maybe I sound a little too excited, but I have to admit that I can't wait to see what we do next. :)

Transformation

The young dark elf Kallimah, while hunting in the Nektulos forest, learns that the Indigo Brotherhood is looking for a person of daring to complete an important quest. Intrigued at the prospect of a grand adventure, and the chance to improve her status amongst the houses of Neriak, Kallimah agrees to deliver a vital letter to Ambassador K`rynn who is stationed in the ogre city of Oggok.

An easy mission, or so Kallimah believes. Until that is, she learns of the letter's contents, information that will lead to a future filled with destruction. In her travels she will face danger, fight battles, discover new friends, and learn the cost of betrayal.

Join Kallimah on her mission in EverQuest Transformation, the second comic from WildStorm, an imprint of DC Comics. Written by Devin Grayson, pencils by Philip S. Tan, inks and colors by Avalon Studios, and with the stunning cover artwork by Whilce Portacio and Richard Friend, EverQuest Transformation delivers a fast-paced tale of intrigue and suspense.

Available this June.

EQ Gems

EQ Gems offers tips, hints, and information about EverQuest. In this month's edition, we have a story that may reveal more to the astute reader than one might expect…

"Here you go, Bosho. Trust me, you'll like it."

"By Brell yer a pushy lil' elf, Brius. First ya drag me up off the stones of Brell up into this infernal wooden deathtrap you call home, then ya lure me into this place. If I didn't know ya to be a right good ranger I'd toss you out that window and go back ta Kaladim!"

"Just drink that and relax. Our contact will be here soon enough."

"I'll sit, and I may even drink, but don't be expectin' me ta relax. What in Brell's beard is this? Smells like a dang fruit tree."

"It's Faydwer Schnapps. There isn't much of it around here. Only one man seems to know the recipe. And we've been collecting these Sylvan Berries for him just so he can make more. He's making a lot of money on this stuff."

"It still smells fruity ta me."

"I didn't think you Dwarves could distinguish the smell of living things. I thought for you it was either dirt, metal or ale."

"Very funny. Just gimme some of that water. At least I know it's not going to make me sick."

"Sorry shorty. This is Steamfont Spring Water. I went to a lot of trouble to get it, and I'm not letting you drink away all my profit. And you weren't that much help picking those berries, either."

"Dern things stained my boots… So if I have to drink this snappy stuff then you'd better tell me what's in it."

"That's just it, I don't know for sure. But I only took this job so I could find out. My brother is a brewer as well, and this is the one recipe that he hasn't been able to figure out. Well, that and I hear that there's a version of the stuff that uses some type of oranges instead of the berries."

"It still smells like fruit ta me. Is this some of yer pansy elf wine?"

"No, it's not… wait a moment. You know what, you might be on to something… Wine… we never thought of that… Come on, let's get out of here."

As the odd pair left the inn, a quiet figure sitting at the bar cracked a smile. Sure, it's fun for a while, he thought, but when a recipe is this exclusive nobody hears about it. That doesn't help sales either… But it sure took those two long enough to get the hint.
